Dangerous Excitement 2 comments
So check this out.
Okay, so the basic run down is that i didn’t lean over enough in turn. I was doing about … 70 or so. Not too bad, really. Something happened and my line was all fucked up; I bled off as much speed as i could, i have no idea how much though. I am pretty sure it was more than 45 though. So i hit the ditch totally motocross style. The back tire went down first and bent the shifter 180 degrees backwards, over the footpeg. Crazy looking. What happened to the bike i can’t quite recall… The front of the bike pretty much nose dived and shredded everything up front. Forks, handlebars, guages, windshield, fairings, clutch cable, front brake banjo bolt… The ninja flipped headfirst, rashed up the rear handle something awful when it went over and then landed bars down in the ditch.
Meanwhile all this is going on, as soon as the back tire went down i went straight off the front. High sided as it is called. In retrospect, i was very happy to be away from the bike, either in front or in back. Seriously, i did like four somersaults and all i saw was light dark light dark light dark with me ending up face down in the ditch. It was fun.
I walked away with a couple of bruises (ass, finger, neck) and some scratches. No broken anything except my bike and pride.
Always wear your gear. All of it.
The image is mostly full size, check out the rash on the helmet. The headlight kinda looks like one of the characters in Ghost in the Shell. Fairings are toast. One of them survived, the chin scoop. I can resell it on eBay and recoup some costs from converting the bike to a streetfighter. Nothing behind the gas tank was injured except the handle and the rear brake light lens. The gas tank was already smashed like that. Came with the bike.
Now i’m going to get a streetfighter for next season instead of a Buell. And i will not stop riding because of this. The good times definitely outweigh the bad ones now.
