One Liter Speaks

Saturday i got to drive a Triumph Daytona 595. It’s a 1L class three cylinder British sport bike. I have to say… The experience was quite enjoyable. The only part of that bike that scares me is the weight of the bike at slow speed. The faster you move, it’s pretty easy to maneuver, but at very high speeds my mass makes it difficult (not impossible) to overcome inertia and lean the bike.

The exhaust note from the machine is worth mentioning, as well. It’s low, not quite two cylinder low, but completely misses the ‘riinrin’ of an inline four. It’s smooth all the way and just loud as crap at 7K – 10K RPM.

So far, i’m pretty happy with my path choice in motorcycles. I want a 1L now :) Maybe an RC-51, maybe a Daytona, XB-12R, something a bit unconventional (i.e. not a water cooled inline four) but still nice enough to drive lots of places. I may have to wait though, since i really want a bike that i can drive 1000 miles on if i want to.
